Music will live forever only if we prioritize education as a main goal.
Elizabeth Stein Company (ESC) will coordinate Master Classes with prominent teachers and performers. Schedule seminars discussing topics such as "History of Violin Makers", " What to Listen for in Classical Music", "Upkeep and Care for an Instrument Recently Purchased", "Violins as investments", or structure the need and desire for the matter at hand.
ESC, in conjunction with the Fine Arts Music Society has developed a Master Class series. This entails the invitation of a renowned pedagogue with a class of students to perform in front of an audience. One student plays the piece and the teacher works for 20-30 minutes suggesting ideas of bowings, phrasings, possible change of techniques. This format is not only fascinating, but the student experiences a learning process that is forever remembered, and the audience sees and hears the immediate improvements and takes in so much knowledge while enjoying the performances. Almita and Roland Vamos led the Master Class in December 2007. Future Master Classes include violinist Shmuel Ashkenasi from the Vermeer String Quartet, violinist Hilel Kagan from the Lyric Opera Orchestra, and others in Chicago, Los Angeles and Berlin. |
